Captain George Cathy
The school year is in full swing, Halloween is over and the weather is starting to feel more like winter. Now is the time of year my thoughts and free time turn back to genealogy. While in Sedalia over Thanksgiving I drove to Crown Hill cemetery. I had read there was a marker for Captain George Cathy at the entrance of the cemetery. Below is the marker placed in his honor.
There is also a marker at the Union/Williams cemetery in Cole Camp for Captain George Cathey, pictured below.
From what I can piece together there is no definitive answer as to Captain George’s actual burial place. Many think the most probable site was in Cooper County where many of his children lived and owned farms. Please contact me if you have further information on the final resting place of Captain George.
Below is my favorite photo from the 2009 Halloween set-up, we had over four-hundred trick or treaters!
