Some website changes
The “Town Square” part of the Familytomb website was started to give interested researchers a place to post and share genealogy information. However, after almost two years membership and posting is lacking on the forum. My first thought was to delete the forum and save some server space. After giving this some thought, I have decided to keep the forum open for its original intent but also use the forum to post documents, pictures, cemetery transcription, links and resources. Posting this information will allow members to comment on the sources or add information; it will also give non-members the option of still viewing these documents. It will also free up the blog page for current information and keep the look of the page clean. If I continued to add information to the top drop down of this page the list would become too long and would impede navigation.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the forum (Town Square) you will need to click on the registration link at the top of the forum or use the link on this page, on the right under Town Square Forum. Follow the instructions on the form, in a few days your membership will be activated and you are then free to post your information. Due to the aggressive nature of spammers I must approve all memberships. When you sign up I will be notified of your intent, I will then send you an e-mail asking you about some of the surnames you are researching. You MUST respond to this e-mail or your account will not be approved. This is the only way I can assure you are a real person and interested in genealogy, not just placing unsavory ads on the site. If you signed up in the past and can not log in please re-register. I had to clean out several hundred spam accounts over the winter; anyone with zero post got deleted.
Finally, if you are looking for a link to a document which was previously on this blog page check the Town Square, most likely I have moved it over to the forum. If you do sign-up please write down and save your pass word! I do not have access to member pass words!
