Busy time of the year!

As the end of the school year approaches I have limited time for genealogy until school is out.  Please forgive any sporadic posting which my occur between now and the end of May.  Many of you know much of my summer vacation is dedicated to making new creations for our annual Halloween display.  However, our display has grown so large I am not sure much more can be added!

This summer’s genealogy line up currently includes another trip to Illinois for Ash and FitzJerrell information. I am looking forward to visiting the Lincoln Library again and grabbing a fried hotdog sandwich at the “Wiener Dog” just across the street.  I did not make it back to the Illinois Archives on my last trip and would like to revisit them and look through their county court records.  I spent much of this winter scanning through reels of many Missouri counties circuit and probate files.  These records have become my newest and favorite source of information.  I would also like to get down to Kentucky and find documentation for the Elijah-Amos Ash connection.  Some shorter trips will be around the Mid-Missouri area to further document the Dillon, Lambeth, Cathey, Mosbey and Bryant lines.  There is so much information on these families right in my own backyard I could focus on them all summer and not run out of places to visit.  Last summers research trips were cut back due to the $4.00 gas fiasco, now that we are currently looking at $1.89 I am hoping gas will stay low enough to do more driving and research.  I would also like to take an extended trip back to the Mid-Continent Library and visit our local LDS family research center.  I have not taken full advantage of the resources at these places and really should spend more time with their collections.  The Missouri Historical society in Columbia also has an extensive collection of newspapers which may be helpful in documenting some marriages and deaths.

I think these plans will keep me busy until August when the school bell rings and I must interact with live people instead of the past.
