Roots Magic-Family tree software program
I have added an Amazon link (right sidebar) to the family tree software Roots Magic. Roots Magic is one of the lesser known genealogy computer programs but don’t let its low profile fool you. As a family researcher I have tried several different well known programs to house my data, I was never fully satisfied with any until I started using Roots Magic. It has all the features any other program has but an ease of use I did not find with the other programs. Within minutes of installation I was putting in data. I have used the program for over three years now with no complaints. They do offer a very helpful online forum, but the program is so “logical” I have not really needed to surf the form for answers. Many of the leading genealogy magazines and sites rate Roots Magic very high. If you choose to purchase the program you can use the link from this site and the Familytomb will get a small cut from Amazon or you can directly order from the owners site Roots Magic. I use this program and would not clutter up my site with an ad if I did not use or like the product. Roots Magic is the tool I use to enter all of the data for the Familytomb and then upload to the TNG (The Next Generation of genealogy site building) website. TNG can and is used by many as the primary data entry program, but I prefer to enter information on my home computer and then upload to the site. I have had no problems with the two programs communicating. Roots Magic does have a website builder function, but I really liked what I saw on other TNG sites, thus the marriage of the two programs. The software is reasonably priced at $29.95. I know many of the other programs I have used were twice the price and were, right out of the box problematic, needing patches and other upgrades.
